The 2012 - 2013 Wrestling Season Begins Soon! - 9/2/2012 We are excited for the 2012 – 2013 Wrestling Season. Coach Mike Spinning has assumed the position as the Head Coach of the Elementary Program. He has wrestled at the high school and collegiate level and is amazing with the kids. Mike has one son in the program and are both looking forward to the season. The Middle School Program will continue to be led by Coach Randy Faires. As you know, Coach Faires has extensive experience as a wrestler and coach and we are excited to have him back. JR. Hornet Bootcamp at the Underground Continues! - 9/1/2012 Roswell JR. Hornet Wrestling Bootcamp continues this week. Bootcamp will only be on Wednesday since Monday is a holiday. Cost for the one session will be $5.00 per kid. Bootcamp typically runs on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 - 6:15pm. Cost is just $15.00 for the week. Also, I have a few extra bootcamp t-shirts in all sizes if you are interested. They look great and are only $15.00 as well. If you pre-ordered (I`ve probably already contacted you already), you can pick up the shirts at one of the bootcamp times this week. I look forward to working with these kids who are committing themselves to getting better. Collectively, we are shaping our wrestling program to one of the best in the state. Annual Roswell Wrestling Parents Meeting - May 9th, 7pm. - 4/26/2012 The annual meeting for Roswell Wrestling will be held at Roswell High School, in the Media Center, May 9th at 7pm. This meeting is open to all HS parents and JR parents! ALL PARENTS CAN VOTE! JRs and HS. Please join us! All wrestling parents are requested to attend - a recap of the past season along with updates for the coming season will be discussed. As well as annual elections will be held for volunteer officers to represent the program during the 2012-2013 season. This is an important meeting!! Please attend and show your support for the program!

Open Mats - Wednesdays @ 6pm - Underground - 3/28/2012 Coach Randy Faires is holding open Mats on Wednesdays at the Underground from 6-7pm. Open mats are open to both the High School and JR Wrestlers - free of charge - you must have a valid USA Card to participate.

Congratz and Good Luck at State JR Hornets!!! - 2/29/2012 We had 27 wrestlers attending four different State Qualifiers on February 25th - 21 Wrestlers earned a spot in the State tournament. A heroic effort by all of our wrestlers - there was tough competition all over the State. You all wrestled hard and gave it your all! Even if you are not going on to the State tournament be proud of yourselves for your accomplishments all season, that goes for all of the JR Hornet Wrestlers! You all are the reason we (coaches) come back year after year!! Keep wrestling and support your teammates as they vie for their chance at a State Title. Good Luck - JR Hornets at State Qualifiers!! - 2/24/2012 We have about 25 JR Hornet Wrestlers (elementary and middle school) who are going to various state qualifiers on Saturday, February 25th! Roswell Folkstyle Classic - January 14th - 1/1/2012 Roswell will be hosting the 8th annual Folkstyle Classic on Saturday, January 14, 2012. We still need volunteers to assist in running this tournament - table workers, data entry, security - if you can volunteer and have not done so, please contact Karen Miller @ jeffkarmil@yahoo.com. Roswell JR Hornets - Centennial and Pope Beginner - Dec. 3 & 4 - 12/1/2011 Come out to support the Roswell JR Hornet Wrestlers this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the elementary and middle school teams will be participating in the Centennial Holiday Classic at Centennial High School - Elementary starts at 9:00 and Middle School Starts around 12 noon. Sunday the elementary and middle school beginners will be participating in the Pope Beginners tournament at Pope High School - Wrestling to start at Noon for all ages/weights. Coaches from both teams will be at both tournaments! Go Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling!!

JR Hornet Wrestling - First Tournament - December 3, 2011 - 11/24/2011 Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling will kick off the 2011-2012 season at the Centennial Holiday Classic, Saturday, December 3rd. Registration for this tournament needs to be completed on the Team Georgia Website - entry fee: $15.00 per wrestler. Registration closes at 10pm Thursday, December 1, 2011. If you have questions on how to register, ask the coaches or contact Jeff Miller @ jeffkarmil@charter.net.

JRs are Still Recruiting!! - 11/24/2011 Even if you have not signed up yet for JR Hornet Wrestling - you still may do so! We accept wrestlers of all levels and abilities from the ages of 6-14. Click on our registration link to the left to find out more!

Wresling Practice Starts November 7th - you can still sign up!! - 11/4/2011 Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling will start practices, Monday, November 7th at the new wrestling facility located at 925 Woodstock Road, Roswell (located below the SFX facility near Mellow Mushroom). Elementary School Practices: Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Middle School Practices: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 to 8:30 pm. It`s not too late to sign up - we take wrestlers throughout the November - March season. Click the Registration Link on the JR Hornet button to the left. Fees are $150.00 per wrestler (each wrestler receives 2 dry fit shirts and a pair of practice shorts). All wrestlers are also required to obtain a USA Wrestling Card via the Team Georgia Website (cost for the card is $35.00).

``Under Ground`` - Ribbon Cutting - November 19th - 11/3/2011 Roswell Wrestling will officially open the new Wrestling Facility - the ``Under Ground,`` on November 19th - starting at 9 a.m.. Please plan to attend we have received a stellar level of Community support. This facility has taken over a decade to realize. While we practiced last season in the facility, this year we have wall pads, floor mats and are in the process of getting the additional filler mats. We will need volunteers and food donations - watch your emails the weekend of November 4th for additional information.

2011-2012 Parents Meetings - Oct. 24 & 25th 7pm - 10/16/2011 We will be holding parents meetings for our JR Hornet Wrestling parents on October 24th and October 25th at 7pm at the NEW Roswell Wrestling Facility located at: 925 Woodstock Road, Roswell (located below the SFX facility near Mellow Mushroom). Parents from both the middle school and elemenary programs (returning and new) are encouraged to attend either night - if you are not sure if your child is interested in wrestling this year - attend anyway to learn more about our program. We will have our coaches present - including our National Hall of Fame inductee - Coach Randy Faires (Head Middle School Coach). No experience is necessary to wrestle and the sport is open to both boys and girls ages 7-14 (we have had younger children - please contact us if you have any questions). We hope to see as many parents attend as possible - help us grow Roswell Youth Wrestling!! Wrestling is a great complimentary sport to Football. Practices start November 7th. Registration ongoing for the 2011-2012 Season! - 10/15/2011 Online registration open is open - the fee for the seaon is $150.00. Hover on the JR Hornet link to your left and select Registration Information to be taken to the online form. Or you can click on the JR Hornet Nation link below to go to our blog site - on the right menu option we have registration 1st step for the form and then you can pay on line via paypal. We also will accept checks. Make your check payable to Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling - you can mail or drop your checks to Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling c/o Jeff Miller, 160 Wavetree Drive, Roswell, Georgia. Registration is not complete until payment has been made. Each wrestler will receive 2 dry fit shirts, a pair of practice shorts and the use of a Roswell Wrestling singlet for the season - which runs from November-March. Elementary School practices 2-3 a week and Middle School practices 3-4 times a week - tournaments are held on Saturdays and Sundays. We will again try to incorporate as many elementary/middle school duals with the High School as possible at no additional charge. Hoping to see a lot of new and returning JR Hornets!! 2011 Roswell Youth Parade - October 1, 2011 - 8/20/2011 Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling will be participating in the 61st Annual Frances MaGahee Youth Day Parade - October 1, 2011. Any new and/or returning wrestlers who are interested in participating are encouraged to let coach Miller know via email @ jeffkarmil@charter.net. We have a pick-up truck and banner and will be passing out candy throughout the parade route. This is a fun event for our City and will assist us in getting the word out about Roswell Wrestling - watch your emails for additional details as we would like the wrestlers to wear the same practice clothing. This year`s theme is ``The Rec Makes Life Fun.`` We are Rec on the offshoots and enjoy benefits from the City! Come out and support our community and our program! It`ll be a fun Saturday event for the entire family!

Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling at Roswell HS Home Football Games! - 8/20/2011 Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling will have an informational table at Roswell High School home football games this fall football season. If you are remotely interested in Wrestling stop by and talk to the Coaches - Coach Randy Faires our Head Middle School Coach and National Hall of Famer will be there along with our Elementary Head Coach and JR Director, Jeff Miller. We will have 2011-2012 forms and information for parents and kids interested in wrestling - no experience necessary we work with Children from the ages of 6/7-14. All of our coaches are former wrestlers and have undergone extensive background checks - Come out to support Roswell High School Football and check out Roswell Wrestling! First Game - August 26, 2011 - see you there!!!

New for 2011-2012 - Online Spirit Wear Ordering - 7/4/2011 We`ve started an online ordering system for Roswell JR Hornet Spirit wear...we have a number of T-Shirts and Shorts available in many sizes. Go to the JR Hornet Nation link below - on the blog`s right menu click on the link that says: Roswell JR Hornet On-Line Spirit Wear Ordering. We currently are not accepting any orders outside of the Roswell area - once we receive your online notification we will contact you to arrange pick-up/drop off. We accept checks (made payable to Roswell JR Hornet Wrestling) or cash - we`ll provide a receipt for either. All proceeds are used by the JR Hornets to assist in funding year end banquets, scholarships and/or team entry fees...etc. We will also be posting information on our gear swap shop - we have a number of used wrestling shoes and headgear that people have either swapped up or donated. Trades are free, we ask for a $5.00 donation without a trade and will gladly accept any shoes/head gear that you would like to donate. Again, all proceeds go to the JR Hornet Wrestling program. Our program is staffed 100% by volunteers - the director, the coaches, the admin - volunteer hundreds of hours on and off season to promote wrestling in Roswell. It`s worth it, because we have some of the best kids, best parents and supporters in the state! Plus we all love wrestling!!

Coach Faires Inducted to the Wrestling Hall of Fame - May 1, 2011 - 6/3/2011 Congratulations to our Middle School Head Coach, Randy Faires, for being honored as an inductee to the Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2011! Coach Faires has earned recognition for his `Lifetime Service to Wrestling` and will be honored on May 1, 2011 at the Hall of Fame Honors Banquet. This is a fantastic Honor for Coach Randy and we couldn`t be more proud of his accomplishments and are extremely honored to have had him as our Middle School Head coach since 2005. You can read about some of Coach Randy`s accomplishments under the JR Hornet Coaches Section as well you can see a copy of the letter that was sent to him by the Hall of Fame. We also have a terrific article about Coach Randy from 1966 on the JR Hornet files and forms link. Congratulations Coach Randy, this is a well deserved honor. You have headed up and developed a fantastic Middle School Coaching staff over the past five years and your dedication and efforts have helped to build the skills and development of several state champions and state placers. Thank you for your dedication to this sport!

New to Wrestling and Don`t Know How to Score? - 4/22/2011 On the multimedia menu button to the left, we`ve linked two decent tutorials that walk through scoring a match. The bout sheets we use are a bit different than what is dipicted, but the general overview of the scoring is good to know. We`ll get some more tutorial type information up and out there as we get closer to the start of the season! We also have a link in the forms/files (on the JR Hornet link)to a chart of referee hand signals.
